The Portal
“I do believe that something very magical can happen when you read a good book.” -J.K Rowling.
Ever wished for an escape! To run away from all your problems, worries, and home works. A portal to whisk you away into a world unknown! Full of magic, mystery, and lessons! Sounds like impossible doesn’t it? Honestly, No. It’s not. There exists a portal of such. That portal is books.
Books are like getaways to different worlds. To meet different people and learn lessons that you might never think of. Books are flooded with knowledge, just waiting to get soaked. You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you’ve lost a friend.
Books will leave you exhausted, they will leave you excited. The will leave you bawling your eyes out but most importantly books will leave you feeling happy. There is something simply magical about a good book. It will help you find a new perspective on everything in life. It will help you look on the brighter side of life. Haruki Murakami said, “If you only read the book that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.”
Good books will help you understand and help you feel understood. They are the most accessible and wisest of the counselors and the most patient of all teachers. It is the best friend anyone could ask for. The most loyal, the most endearing! The quietest and the most constant of friends! The gift you can open over and over again. It will help you travel the world without ever leaving your chair. Summing up (which was very hard and I didn’t think I could), the words Stephen King very wisely said: “Books are uniquely portable magic.”
